Vehicle Prices After Budget 2019

Discover how Budget 2019 could affect vehicle prices in Sri Lanka. According to the 2019 budget proposal, the local vehicle prices would be increased by fallowing tax revisions. 

• Petrol vehicle with less than 800 cc will be increased by Rs. 150,000.
• Petrol vehicle with 800 – 1000 cc will be increased by Rs. 175,000.
• Petrol vehicle with 1000 – 1300 cc will be increased by Rs. 500,000.
• Hybrid vehicle with less than 800 cc will be increased by Rs. 250,000.
• Hybrid vehicle with 800 – 1500 cc will be increased by Rs. 500,000.
• Petrol / Hybrid vehicle with more than 1500 cc will be increased from Rs. 700,000 – 1,200,000.
• Some luxury vehicle price will be increased by Rs. 2 Million.
• However, the import tax on electric motor vehicles of 70 kw were brought down by Rs. 175,000. 

Those 2019 vehicle tax revisions will severely impact on Sri Lankan budget car segment and the hybrid cars / SUV.  Also tax reduction on electric cars will not be advantage as expected since electric cars such as Nissan Leaf 2018 model comes with more than 70 kw power.
